Kinor David Program

Kinor David provides students with an opportunity to become intentional, well-rounded individuals. Inspired by their Jewish heritage and equipped with the requisite attributes, attitudes and skills, students of the King David School positively impact themselves, the community, and broader world.

The King David School implemented the Kinor David program in 2022 with the generous support of the estate of the late Pinek Krystal.  Kinor David prioritises fostering, recognising, and celebrating student achievement.

We seek to emulate our namesake, King David, in providing a holistic education to foster a wide range of capabilities and qualities in our students. King David was a shepherd who became one of the greatest leaders of the Jewish people.

The Kinor David program helps students to be:
◗ Confident
◗ Compassionate
◗ Empathetic
◗ Ethical
◗ Hard working
◗ Honest
◗ Independent
◗ Kind
◗ Resilient
◗ Respectful
The King David School places these fundamental values at the heart of our programs.

Participating

Within each of the five Kinor Domains are opportunities for participation. These are "built in" (included in the curriculum) and "build up" (co-curricular and/or external).

Within each recognised opportunity, Kinor David establishes three distinct levels of involvement. The three levels vary in degree of contribution and commitment.

  • Participate, requires a minimum of 5 hours of active and consistent engagement in an opportunity, and it constitutes 10 points.

  • Facilitate, requires a minimum of 10 hours of engagement in which a student enables and organises involvement in an opportunity, and it constitutes 20 points.

  • Initiate, requires over 20 hours of engagement in which a students and/or expands upon opportunities. It is awarded 30 points.
  • Recognising Involvement

Students will have an opportunity to document their involvement in Kinor David every fortnight during Kesher (homeroom) via myKDS.

Students, staff, and parents can view student progress any time via myKDS. Students in Years 9 to 12 will receive a semester report of their involvement in Kinor David, which reflects their participation in various domains and their ongoing work towards badge attainment.

At the end of Year 12, graduates will receive a statement and certificate that reflects their participation in Kinor David, useful for university and gap year program applications.
