Year 9s celebrate final Nitzan in delicious way

Its a wrap! Last Nitzan for our Year 9s on Wednesday this week – and what a year it has been!

Nitzan, meaning blossoming, was designed to enable students to thrive beyond the classroom and Nitzan 2022 well and truly met its mark. Our Year 9 cohort blossomed in so many ways.

Our students explored concepts, people and places previously unknown. They faced challenges, big and small, working through them independently and together. They developed independence and yet they came together as a group and made life long memories. I saw the growth in each and every one of them.

It is totally appropriate that we sat around a table together celebrating this significant milestone with our Year 9 community. Students connected their experiences of culture shared through food to the telling of their own stories of personal growth in a delicious degustation planned and prepared by each of them for each other. They ate home made gnocchi and napoli sauce, pumpkin miso soup and Nigiri, Vietnamese rice paper rolls, Greek herbed flat bread made with the herbs from our garden, mango lassi, Knaffi and chanukah jam donut muffins! All the food was lovingly prepared and made from scratch by our students who cleaned up working together with joy and a sense of community pride.

I am certain that the lessons learned during this year of Nitzan will continue well beyond their years at this campus.
