Witness to a brilliant event!

The much-loved KDSPA Breakfast occurred today for the first time in three years.  And it was sure worth the wait!

Guests were treated to mother and daughter duo, Karen Feldman and Shayna Epstein (Year 11 student), singing Naomi Shemer’s anthem-like song “Al Kol Eleh’ (a song of prayer and promise) and it was sensational! Accompanied by KDS choir-master Georgia Brooks (click HERE to view their performance).

The guest speaker, ABC TV’s 7.30 and Four Corners investigative reporter, Louise Milligan, shared fascinating insights into her career.

Louise’s insights into the brutality of the justice system when hearing domestic violence and child sex abuse cases showed that the institutional response is unjust and unsupportive of the vulnerability of the victims.

Louise is a shining example of how journalists are in the position to make positive change.

She is also an award winning author of two non-fiction books; her first, Cardinal: The rise and fall of George Pell (2017), won the Walkley Book Award and broke massive international news about the court case and successive and ultimately successful appeals involving one of the most senior members of the Catholic Church hierarchy.

Guests today were very fortunate to each receive a copy of her second book Witness: An investigation into the brutal cost of seeking justice (2020). She’s also the recipient of the 2019 Press Freedom Medal.

We are very grateful to our sponsors, Bayside European and Small Giants.  In addition, our community members who supported the silent auction, raffle and attended the Breakfast. Finally, to our amazing KDSPA Breakfast Committee: Tina Landsberg, Jo Upton, Danielle Leigh, Ganit Taft, Lori Chait and Sabina Berman for their hard work and dedication in bringing a memorable event to the KDS community.
