The Three Cs with Stop Motion

Year 4 students utilised the three Cs – collaboration, creativity and critical thinking – as they transformed their narrative writing into film during an exciting stop motion animation incursion on Wednesday.

The students began the creative process by individually storyboarding their ideas, then worked collaboratively in teams to settle on a final story idea for their animation. Next, they constructed their miniature sets, using cardboard, paper, and Blu-Tack for the backgrounds and set pieces, and modelling clay to sculpt their characters.

The final stage of this creative process involved the teams moving and photographing their clay characters frame by frame, making tiny adjustments between each shot to create the illusion of movement and successfully bring their imaginative stories to vibrant, animated life.
