This week was Leadership Week for our Year 5 students. They heard from our school leaders, David Opat and Janice Shearer, as well as from Melbourne Demons players about what makes a good leader. Our students came up with their own list of characteristics of what makes a good leader, and they practiced leadership through role play, teamwork strategy games and puzzles. Each Year 5 student will be in a Vaad (committee) that takes the lead on relevant school initiatives.
Today there was an assembly which formalises each Vaad, which students have informally joined through the famous school ‘sorting hat’. These Vaadot are: HaOmah HaRishona (First Nations), Yahadut (Jewish Life), Echut HaSviva (Sustainability), Tikkun Olam (Charity), and Ruach (Spirit and Kindness). We look forward to the excellent work our Year 5 leaders will do this year!
