Students in the Wind ensemble play the saxophone and flutes at our Middle and Senior School Ensemble music performances

Music to our Ears – Our Ensembles

On Thursday night we were treated to beautiful pieces performed by our Middle and Senior School ensembles. 

The Middle School Musical Theatre Club, directed by Libby Choo, performed ‘Colours of the Wind’ (from Pocahontas). The Strings Ensemble, directed by Amy Banner, performed the Irish tune ‘Drowsy Maggie’ and Motzart’s ‘Eine Kleine Nachtmusik’. The Beginner and Intermediate Concert Bands, directed by Kate Bergen and Ness Buder, wowed with Survivor’s ‘Eye of the Tiger’ while the Beginner Concert Band played the ‘Peppa Pig theme’.

Lachlan McKay’s KDS Rock Band played Deborah Conway’s ‘It’s Only The Beginning’ and Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Vampire’. The Songwriters’ Studio (Year 9 Classroom Music Ensemble) performed ‘Scar’ by Missy Higgins and Herbie Hancock’s ‘Watermelon Man’. Classy Brass (Year 6 Classroom Music Ensemble) , also directed by Lachlan, played the tradtional ‘Rolling Along’ and the American Folk Song ‘Go Tell Aunt Rhodie’.

The Senior Choir, overseen by alumn Matan Franco, sang Naomi Shemer’s ‘Al Kol Eleh’. Finally, the Nana Band, supported by Simon Starr, perfromed Avi Koren and Shmuel Imberman’s song ‘Yoter MiZeh Anachnu Lo Tsrichim’.
