Lesley Sachs is the former director of Women of the Wall and vice-chair of the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism. She is currently in Australia as a guest of the UIA Progressive Appeal and came to speak to our Religion and Society Unit 1 class.
As part of Area of Study 1.2, Religion through the Ages, the students are looking at how developments in society have affected the development of religions and spiritualities over time. It was fascinating to hear about Women of the Wall and their struggle for recognition in Israel. Students look forward to being able to apply the new understandings they now have in order to further their studies and analysis of the changes to religions and their practices.

The King David School is a forward-thinking school that fosters a love of learning, egalitarianism and a proud connection to Jewish identity.
The King David School acknowledges the Boon Wurrung and the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin nation as Traditional Owners of the land on which the School operates. We also acknowledge Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them and to their Elders past and present.
