On Thursday, Yr 8/9 boys football team brought home the first AFL championship by defeating Bialik 62-38 in a thrilling match. Bialik were undefeated throughout the season with KDS only suffering once loss to them.
In perfect conditions, the boys kicked the first goal of the game. Bialik then missed 4 opportunities allowing KDS to hold a narrow lead at the first break. Bialik took control of the 2nd quarter, however late in the quarter KDS , through the excellent work of Jack Hart and Jhett Haetta, kept the game close with Bialik up by a goal at the main break. Behind by 1 point in the 3rd quarter, Bailey Rothfield and Aidan Sheffield performed extremely well ensuring Bialik were not going to take the lead.
The last quarter began and Hart and Haetta stepped it up another level. KDS then kicked 4 goals to zero taking home the first football championship in four years and first ever in Yr 8/9.
