Activities to support Israel in our Junior School
Today our Junior School Jewish Life staff came together to give a meaningful day of Israel-related experiences for our students, helping them to feel they have made a tangible contribution of support at this time. The day was an opportunity to come together as a KDS community in support of Israel, her people and the worldwide Jewish community. The Tekes this morning at the DRC incorporated the Prayer for the State of Israel, Prayer for the IDF, a section of Tehillim and Hatikvah. Families were invited to join us in this collective expression of our deepest wishes for peace and for the safety, strength and security of our family, friends and peoplehood.
After the Tekes, Junior School students participated in Israel related activities in their Jewish Studies classes throughout the day. The activities including a Mural for peace, writing prayers for peace to be added to the notes in the Kotel from other children around the world; compiling a Book of Happiness – a collection of personal thoughts that bring calm and happiness to share with children in Israel; making challah as a segulah (good omen); creating personalised Shabbat candle designs; and designing activities together for the children of Israel to do at home.
It has been a beautiful day showing support with Israel – our hearts are with you.
