Triumph at the Battle of the Bands

PLACE TEXT HERE

This year’s Battle of the Bands Jewish Schools competition was staged at the Besen Centre on Monday night and the standard of the competition was outstanding, with three bands from King David, Scopus, Yavneh and Bialik competing in three categories – Rock Song, Movie Song and Israeli Song. A strong line-up of talented musicians and vocalists from the four Jewish Day Schools impressed the judges with their energy and musicianship. We are overjoyed that KDS was awarded the overall winner of the event!

The students in each band were tasked with choosing, arranging and rehearsing their chosen items. Our bands performed ‘Bring Me To Life’ by Evanescence for the Rock Song, ‘Bizman Acharon’ by Idan Amedi for the Israeli Song and ‘The Mission Impossible Theme X Skyfall’ by Adele for the Movie Song. We are extremely proud of all of our students who competed.

We would also like to acknowledge the wonderful efforts of two of our string musicians who performed in the Klezmer Medley. This performance was presented by string students and staff from three of the competing schools and was coordinated by our very own Amy Banner.

Congratulations to all of our students who participated. Special mention must go to Zac, Asher, Toby, Giorga and Jules for their win in the Rock Song category. Congratulations also to Mia for being the co-winner of the Best Vocalist performance for her soulful performance of ‘Skyfall’.

The KDS Staff were extremely proud and impressed seeing the teamwork and dedication all of our students put into preparing their items for this event! Their victory is testament to the hard work and creativity of our KDS students as well as to the support of their teachers and families. Congratulations to all three bands on this outstanding achievement – a performance to remember!
