Our Unit 3/4 Physics students had an outstanding all-day Physics excursion this week. It started at Luna Park with Physics students across Melbourne joining in. Students got to go on each ride and then subsequently solve the motion equations for each ride. Rather than conducting circular motion experiments, they themselves were put in circular motion.
We were then one of only three schools to visit the Synchrotron at Monash Clayton. Students had the privilege of touring Australia's only particle accelerator. Despite being a Physics excursion, students also saw the chemistry, biomedical and radiological applications available at the Synchrotron. Students left inspired having seen one facility containing 18 of Australia's top research centres in one spot.
