Year 9 is a time of transformation. Our Nitzan program supports this journey of self-discovery with engaging, real-world learning that fosters independence, connection and confidence.

Over a full day every Wednesday, Nitzan gives students ownership over their learning, empowering them to build skills for their future through a variety of vibrant, dynamic and practical learning opportunities.

Beyond the Classroom

Teaching Diverse Skills - for Life

From Life Hacks to Ethics, Tikkun Olam/Service to Multicultural Melbourne, students grow with purpose, curiosity and a strong sense of self – becoming more connected with the world beyond the classroom.

Life Hacks

Students develop essential life skills through practical workshops and accreditations (CPR, Barista Basics, Food Handling). They build resumes, explore finance, and take on hands-on challenges in mechanics, carpentry and household maintenance.

Ethics, Rights and Responsibilities

Through rich discussion and creative expression, students explore justice, governance, and the many ways people drive change. They’re encouraged to identify causes they care about and consider how they might make a difference.

Tikkun Olam - Volunteering

Focusing on giving back, students learn from local organisations and commit to weekly volunteer placements, experiencing firsthand how small actions can help repair the world.

Multicultural Melbourne

tudents immerse themselves in the cultures that make our city vibrant – through excursions, encounters, and shared stories – culminating in a multicultural feast to celebrate diversity and connection.

Fostering independence and service

Nitzan helps students place themselves in the wider world. They work with the wider community on volunteer projects; gain practical first aid and barista qualifications; and see new sides of Melbourne through tours and activities.
