Year 7 Orientation Day

After a successful Orientation Day, the Year 7 students were joined by their parents and siblings in the library on Friday for afternoon tea.

This event was hosted by Russell Kaplan and Michele Bernshaw and was a great opportunity for existing families to meet with new families and welcome them to the School.

Yesh students leave on a trip of a lifetime

Today, 14 Year 10 students, Rabbi Gersh Lazarow and Feygi Zylberman left on an afternoon flight, bound for Israel as part of the Yesh programme.

This programme is offered each year to Year 10 students at TKDS.  The group this year, has been the largest group to date.

For 28 days, the group will see and experience Israel and many exciting and diverse events and activities are planned.

2012 KDS Golf Day

It was a mostly sunny day for the competent and not so competent golfers who attended our KDS Golf Day, held at Cranbourne Golf Course on Friday 23 November.

The consensus was that it was a “really fun event” with a “great atmosphere”.

Year 7 Kabbalat Torah

One of the highlights in the Year 7 school calendar is the Kabbalat Torah.

This is an annual celebration of the coming of age of the Year 7 cohort and was held recently at Temple Beth Israel, witnessed by family, friends and teaching staff.

Students led the Ma’ariv service and ritually “received” Torah by having a scroll passed to them.

Year 5 Camp

The Year 5 students were excited to go to Gilwell Park for their four day camp. They experienced a variety of activities that built on previous experiences.  The activities challenged them individually and required them to work as supportive team members. The activities included High Ropes Course, Low Ropes Course, Flying Fox, Climbing Wall, Canoeing, Raft Building, Bushwalking and the muddy Gauntlet.

Higgins Medal

The Higgins Medal is a school award designed to recognise and foster leadership and leadership potential in the next generation of Australians.  Kelly O’Dwyer (Federal member for Higgins) initiated the award. CanSat Team

Australia’s only CanSat Team finished in equal 3rd place at the end of the final stage of the international CanSat France competition, held on the French missle testing facility (DGA-EM) in Biscarrosse recently.
