Music, both vocal and instrumental, Drama and Theatre Studies are of an exceptional standard at The King David School and the School has a proud history of students taking up careers in the Performing Arts.
Students are offered a wealth of opportunities including performing in community events, School Productions, festivals and exhibitions. Our students are encouraged to extend their performance skills in all aspects of the Arts – Dance, Drama, Theatre and Music.
The King David School conducts performing arts classes out of state of the art facilities.
Students are also introduced to theatre technology and stage management practices, increasing our student’s capabilities and involvement within the performing arts.
With our wonderful facilities, dedicated teaching staff and talented students, the Performing Arts at The King David School will continue to flourish.
There are several choirs and orchestras rehearsing and performing regularly at high-profile events throughout the year. The schedule of events includes a variety of fully staged musicals, Winter Concert and Presentation Evening. Year 7 to VCE students participate in an annual exchange with the Emanuel School in Sydney and Year 3 students are involved in a Strings Program which introduces them to orchestral strings and guitar. Years 5 and 6 students learn brass and woodwind as part of classroom music. Instrumental students present solo works through our Soiree program which includes more than 20 concerts a year.
King David has a Junior School Musical, a Years 6 to 8 Musical and a Years 9 to 12 each year. These are professionally choreographed and directed and any student who wants to participate, can. This is consistent with our School’s philosophy of inclusiveness.
Drama is offered as an elective in Years 7 through to 10.
VCE students studying VCE Theatre Studies have the opportunity to manage the entire production process, including promotion, ticketing, and staging. This forms part of their VCE assessment.
