VCE Theatre Studies Students Perform Lilies on the Land

Last week, the VCE Theatre Studies students performed Lilies on the Land, which has been described as “a revealing, funny and wonderfully moving portrait of four women who sign up to join the Women’s Land Army during World War II”.

2014 Winter Concert

On Sunday 10 August, the Alwynne and Walter Jona Multipurpose Hall at Rebecca Magid Centre was filled with music and song during the 2014 Winter Concert which involved performing arts students from Years 3 to 12.

Our talented students who entertained the capacity audience included the Senior Vocal Ensemble, Wind Trio, Senior and Junior Guitar Ensembles, String Ensemble, 3-8 Vocal and Instrumental Ensembles and Senior Orchestra. B’Nai B’rith 2014 Jewish Youth Art Competition

On Sunday 10 August. Zeddy Lawrence, National Editor Australian Jewish News opened the Annual B’Nai B’rith 2014 Jewish Youth Art Competition at the Glen Era Town Hall Arts Complex.

The B’nai B’rith 2014 Jewish Youth Art Competition is a great forum for showcasing the wonderful creative talents of Jewish students in the 11 – 18 age group. The exhibition this year had a very large selection of artworks from all the Jewish schools.

The Independent Schools Victoria (ISV) Annual Student Art Exhibition for 2014 was officially opened at Shell House, No 1 Spring Street, Melbourne by the State Education Minister Martin Dixon on Tuesday 29 July with King David students, staff and parents in attendance. The Senior Musical, The Drowsy Chaperone was performed over 2 nights this week to rave reviews. Our extremely talented students wowed the audience with their brilliant comedic timing, singing, dancing and music accompaniment. A fabulous Show that left everyone feeling uplifted and a little sore from laughter!

The 39 Steps – "A fabulous Romp"

“It is not often that a School production can provide the audience with lots of laughs..and all for the right reasons. As the cast took their bows at the conclusion of The 39 Steps, the comment on everyone’s lips was, “What a pity that there was only one performance!”

Last Wednesday 26 February, the VCE Studio Arts class ventured out to Heidelberg to visit the Heide Gallery of Modern Art.

Years 3 to 6 Musical – Bats

A spine tingling and wildly entertaining performance of the musical “BATS” was presented by Years 3 to 6 students this week. Transporting us to the world of the remote village of Humperdink, students sang and danced through the Transylvanian Alps, once known for its population of vampires and ghouls.

VCE Performing Arts – Monologue evening

On the evening of Tuesday 1 October, the Year 12 Theatre Studies class put on a triumphant performance of the annual Year 12 Monologues for the benefit of parents and friends.

This evening is a valuable opportunity for Theatre students to show off their work to an audience in preparation for their performance in front of a judging panel in their final Theatre Performance Exam (scheduled this year for 18 October).

Student artwork from Prep to Year 12 was on display as well as media presentations from our Senior School students.

A high standard of creativity was on show and it is a credit to our students and our Visual Art and Media teaching staff.
