Our stunning Lyn and Michael Lawrence and Family Theatrette hosted its first ever production on Wednesday night.

The VCE Theatre Studies students relished in their opportunity to be the very first performers to grace our new stage. Hagar Barazani, Serena Meltzer and Michaela Cohen indulged the audience with their insightful and highly entertaining portrayal of Joanna Murray-Smith’s characters from her award-winning play, ‘Bombshells’.

The 2016 Top Designs exhibition opened at the Melbourne Museum, Carlton on the evening of 17 March by the Hon. James Merlino MP Deputy Premier and Minister for Education. The exhibition will run until 10 July 2016.

Pop Art Movement and Year 8 Students

Year 8 students have been looking at Andy Warhol and the Pop Art movement in class and on Monday visited the National Gallery of Victoria’s exhibition on Andy Warhol and Ai Weiwei.

Creativity on Display – VCE Visual Arts Show

Our VCE Visual Arts Show ‘Seeing the New World’ was held on Sunday 6 December at the Rebecca Magid Centre. Senior Art, Media and Visual Communication Design students presented a range of highly creative pieces. For those Year 11 and 12 students, these were part of their VCE assessment work. Senior Drama Evening

The annual Senior Drama Evening was held at the Senior School Magid Institute last Thursday and showcased the extraordinary talents of our Senior students. Year 9 Drama students presented an ensemble performance titled, Hoodie, a series of short scenes that focused on peer pressure and body image. Spring is in the Air

Our annual Winter Concert featuring became a Spring Concert this year, featuring our talented students in vocal and instrumental ensembles.

Last Sunday, proud families listened to a broad and impressive repertoire that included percussion, guitar, woodwind and brass and string ensemble pieces as well as some hauntingly beautiful solo performances by Year 12 students Noa Opat and Sara Reed. The B’nai B’rith 20th Annual Jewish Youth Art Competition award ceremony was held on Sunday 9 August at the Glen Eira Arts Complex. This event is a great forum for showcasing the creative talents of Jewish students in the 11 – 18 age group.
