Year 2 Philosophers were wide-eyed and eager to continue their Philosophy For Children (P4C) program. The rules of the Community of inquiry were quickly established as our young thinkers began using the strategy of ‘making a plan’ before engaging in discussion. A thought-provoking art piece displaying a family on one side of the interior of an hourglass and a playground on the other was shown. We conducted a See, Think, Wonder thinking routine whilst observing and analysing the image. With lego pieces in hand, every philosopher had the opportunity to ‘build’ upon each other’s ideas. Whilst displaying critical and collaborative thinking skills, our young philosophers discussed concepts such as time, freedom, and belonging. They were able to reflect upon the recent restrictions and effectively articulate their emotions our Community of Inquiry.
