On Wednesday evening this week, three KDS teams and supporters embarked on this year’s journey of verbal jousting. A big congratulations to the first time Schools Competition debaters, Charli Cantoni-Bud, Jackson Carew and Jacob Kronberg (Year 9) who successfully argued the negative of the D Grade topic ‘That we should limit the number of cars that each household can own’. Mazeltov to Jacob who was awarded Best Speaker.
The more experienced C Grade team of Alex and Charley Cowen and Tobi Taranto (Year 10) also successfully argued the negative of their topic, ‘That children should be legally required to take care of their parents rather than placing them in aged care’. Alex Cowen very bravely and generously agreed to follow on from her 7pm debate to assist the Year 12 team at 8pm of Daniel Lindros and Maximus Sandler, arguing the negative of ‘That we regret the rise of streaming platforms (such as Netflix and Disney+). This time they were pipped at the post, despite a very high level of debate, all round.
Mazeltov again to all and a reminder that audiences are welcome. Round 2 will be held at Caulfield Grammar on Wednesday, 29 April.
