This study is intended to assist students in the understanding, production and interpretation of a range of visual communications. A emphasis of this subject is to introduce students to the unlimited potential of design The study also provides the opportunity to develop an informed, critical and discriminating approach to visual communications encountered in everyday life.

Students develop a capacity to think visually and are required to demonstrate their ability to use information and communication technology (ICT), placing them at the cutting edge of today’s design industry practices. Students learn to recognise, harness and reapply this knowledge to new situations.

Design offers clarity and control in the management of significant communication challenges. In the 21st century it is important that the community is educated to perceive, decode and harness such a far-reaching commodity as information communication. It is also necessary to build awareness of how far communication, product and sustainable design can be taken to enhance the quality of our lives and the lives of others.
