We are very happy to share with you the progress of the
re-development of 520 Orrong Road.
You will see that the demolition of the North wing started last week to make way for the new Multi-Purpose Hall. This has been made possible by the generous support of the Australian Federal Government’s Building Education Revolution grant. The Multi- Purpose Hall will deliver more opportunities for a range of sports and physical education, assembly and performance activities for our students.
In the coming weeks we will see the commencement of extensive renovation of the South Wing. This renovation will provide excellent teaching spaces for Music, Drama and Visual Arts. Administration will also be relocated to the South Wing allowing for greater efficiency and integration across the School.
Great care has been taken to create flexible, innovative teaching spaces that incorporate environmentally sustainable design and systems.
The South Wing is not funded by the Government. Nonetheless School Council has decided that it will constitute such a significant upgrade to the teaching and learning facilities at Magid Campus that the full project must proceed.
The generosity of two benefactors, Nora Goodridge and Robert Raynor, has allowed the School to make a start.
Within a short time the School’s capital campaign will commence to ensure that the South Wing will be constructed so as to accommodate our programs in purpose designed facilities without increasing School debt.
We will continue to keep you informed about the project and the capital campaign as they progress. Together we can complete a project that will deliver—for the start of the 2011 school year—new sporting, music, drama and visual arts spaces to enhance and extend the educational experience at The King David School.
Your support will be gratefully appreciated by the whole of our school community now and for generations to come.
