Artistic Talent and Integrity Rewarded

The B’nai B’rith 22nd Annual Jewish Youth Art Competition 2017 award ceremony was held last Sunday, August 6 at the Glen Eira Arts Complex Art Gallery. This event is a great forum for showcasing the creative talents of Jewish students in the 11 – 18 age group. The exhibition this year had a very large selection of artworks from all of the Jewish schools in Victoria.

The exhibition was opened by Sonia Payes, a prize winning artist, sculptor and photographer and was followed by the award presentation. Students and their families were excited to see their artworks hanging in this public exhibition and hear comments from the viewing audience in regard to the students’ individual art pieces.

Students won awards across all of the categories of the competition, which includes painting, drawing, mixed media and sculpture. This is a testament to the broad and varied visual arts curriculum that is offered to the students at school and their ability to experiment and gain proficiency in many techniques and forms of media.
